The Enchanted Island is preparing to host the second edition of the Sardegna Rally Raid. A long gestation, but here are the reasons why it was worth the wait. Significant news and promotion in a whirlwind of compass turns.
There was anticipation and wait, but the Sardegna Rally Raid 2026 (May 15–17) is finally back. Valid for both cars and motorcycles. Based in Olbia, three days of racing covering 900 kilometers across the provinces of Olbia-Tempio and Sassari, with special stages accounting for 75% of the route.
It is the “Dakar in Italy”, the Rally-Raid returning to the “Northern Paradise” in Gallura, Anglona, and Romangia on a network of roads and breathtaking scenery. A unique opportunity for competitors and visitors alike for a key event in the discipline, perfect for discovering (and rediscovering) the beauty of the island.
The epicenter is Olbia, set against the backdrop of the port area and the historic center. The organization is entrusted to AC Sassari with the support of Automobile Club d’Italia and the Region of Sardinia, and with the coopeation of the Moto Club Insolita Sardegna. Olbia, April 3, 2026. The 2026 edition of the Sardegna Rally Raid took its time. But it never stood still. It was a year of processing the only global data available, that successful first edition, which was considered the “zero” step of a substantially new and complex event, laid like a veil of elegance over the responsibility to do “justice” and honor to the beauty of the Island
It was also a long season of negotiations, aimed at bringing a discipline usually exotic back to Italy, giving the event an unprecedented depth of content, and giving the Sardegna Rally Raid the stature of a pioneering, young, brilliant and courageous event, while at the same time mature in the balance of its choices. During this period, the blessings of the promoting Federations, FIA and FIM, arrived, along with guarantees of the necessary support for what is a long-term investment – everyone hopes a very long one – and the path of an ambition that brings the Sardegna Rally Raid to double World Championship status, for both cars and motorcycles.
This explains the last-minute announcement, tight but still useful, consistent with the Organizer’s spirit of respect towards the enthusiast. For the participant, whether a competitor or a “visitor,” it is the promise of a key appointment in the discipline and the “pretext” opportunity to return, once and again, to paradise. Northern Paradise, that is, from May 15 to 17, the Sardegna Rally Raid launches its second edition on the stage of Sardinia’s northern strip, from Gallura to Romangia, from Monte Acuto to Anglona. It is a web of roads fanning out across natural scenery, breathtaking views, and, let’s say it, detonators of genuinely and notoriously unparalleled emotions. Exaggerating a little, it is also a “transfusion” of pride and awareness in an edition whose “temptations” are unmistakable. Let’s look at them in the Event’s structure.

During those days, a reserved port area, the historic center, and the city’s main infrastructures will be at the disposal of the Rally organized by ACI Sassari and Moto Club Insolita Sardegna. Event validity: Italian Motorally and Raid TT Championship, European Baja for Motorcycles, Italian Cross-Country Championship for Cars. Three days of racing across the provinces of Sassari and Olbia-Tempio, approximately 900 kilometers, three-quarters of which are special stages. A winning team… is confirmed at the helm: a dream team of skilled, tested figures.
